Disney and Jesus

I saw a T-shirt recently that read “Disney in my veins, Jesus in my heart”.  It hit home.  I love Jesus with all my heart.  I strive daily to know Him better and to walk more closely with Him in all that I say and do.  I pray and read my bible regularly.  I go to church and attend small groups off and on.  I have, however, had a rebellious relationship with Jesus for as long as I can remember; much like a teenager who is testing authority.  Because I am not a perfect Christian by any means, I fail daily; thus, my inherent need for a Savior.  And I believe Jesus is my Savior.  For the past several years I’ve read through the bible with a “bible in a year plan” on the Bible App.  Below is an excerpt from my devotional this year, ICA – 365 Daily Kingdom Living.

“In Acts 19:20 the word of the Lord is portrayed as a plant that grows.  The word of God has such power it continued to increase and spread (Acts 6:7; 12:24; 13:49), and the number of believers increased rapidly.  The power of the word in the spread of the Gospel comes from God Himself.  He is the one who overcomes the limitations and weaknesses of His witness so that the Gospel spreads.  So, when we share the Gospel, remember that it’s the Lord’s responsibility to speak to the heart of the person we’re trying to reach.  We are just His messenger, and He has given us the privilege to speak on His behalf.”

This note really struck me as I was struggling with a new idea to start writing to try and gain a little more income for my family of 5.  I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I don’t consider myself a prolific writer.  After all, most of the “stories” I write seem to stay in my head and never reach the light of day.  I remember taking a writing class when I was quite young in a museum in my hometown.  It was at the former home (mansion) of a prominent family in the area.  The story I wrote must not have been great, because I don’t remember it one bit.  I just know that I enjoyed the experience, and I’m now surprised that the idea to write hasn’t occurred to me sooner!  As my newly revived dream of working in some sort of relation to Disney was building, I realized that maybe I had a perspective that others could relate to.  Or maybe not.  But it wouldn’t hurt to try.

So as a Christian, wife, mom, and Disney fanatic, among other things, I come to you with my take on all things motherhood, Disney, travel, and a pixie dusting of Jesus.  My hope is to one day be able to bring to you stories from Disney experiences all over the world.  And God willing, He will help me overcome my limitations and weaknesses to be His witness and spread Gospel love to whomever needs it.
